JAY A. LEVY MD, a keen AIDS and cancer researcher and an educator, is presently professor in the Department of Medicine and research associate in the Cancer Research Institute. He is head of the Laboratory for Tumor and AIDS Virus Research at UCSF (University of California in San Francisco). Dr. Levy co-discovered HIV in 1983 and also discovered a novel immune response that controls HIV infection through the production by CD8+ lymphocytes of an antiviral factor, CAF.
