Kayi, Kerem

Kerem Kayi, Dr. Phil., studied English Philology, Islamic and Turkic Studies at the Freie Universitat Berlin. At present he is a lecturer in Ottoman at the Institute of Turkic Studies of the same university. His general interest in the history of the late Ottoman Empire and Urban Studies led to the recent publication of Bagdad, 1831-1869 (2007). Besides his research in the field of Turkish Cinema he is currently working on the foundation of cities in 19th century Ottoman Iraq.
