Author Art Greenhaw is a fifth-generation Mesquite resident who coauthored the definitive Mesquite history book, A Stake in the Prairie. He is a Grammy Award-winning and eight-time Grammy Award-nominated producer-arranger-musician. He was schooled at Black Elementary, Agnew Junior High, and Mesquite High School, where he graduated with highest honors.
