Gercik is managing Director of the MIT-Japan Program. She spent the first 20 years of her life in Tokyo, where she attended the American International School of Japan and worked as a travel guide and radio and TV host. She received a BA from the University of California-Berkeley, and a Masters from Tufts University in Massachusetts.
