It is a very helpful text for those with little or no knowledge of gait analysis, and provides a very readable and understandable synopsis. The majority of information provided is descriptive, with some limited guidance on interpretation of gait data. Further reading would be required to gain in-depth understanding of each aspect of gait analysis, but this book provides an accessible introduction to the topic."

Jim Richards is Professor of Biomechanics and research lead for the Allied Health Research Unit (AHRu) at the University of Central Lancashire in 2004. He has authored over 160 peer reviewed journal papers and written and edited several textbooks, including the 5th edition of Whittle's Gait Analysis (2012). He will take over from David Levine as the lead editor for this edition. Dr. Levine has been working and conducting research in animal physical rehabilitation since 1993 and is co-director of the University of Tennessee's certificate program in canine rehabilitation. He is a co-editor of multiple books, including Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, Essential Facts of Physiotherapy in Dogs and Cats, and Gait Analysis: An Introduction. He has presented at over 100 conferences, and has lectured in more than a dozen countries. Dr. Levine has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals with over 100 publications. His latest research focuses on canine rehabilitation, clinical infectious disease, animal assisted therapy, and laser to improve muscle endurance
