This book will helpful to academic, students and researchers to understand presence and magnitude of genetic variability and correlation which is pre-requisite of any breeding programme. Mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek, (2n=22, genome size of 579 Mb) Syn, Phaseolus aureus Roxb., Phaseolus radiatus L.] belongs to family Fabaceae. Mungbean contains about 24 per cent protein, this being about two third of the protein content of soybean, twice that of wheat and thrice that of rice. The protein is comparatively rich in lysine, an amino acid that is deficient in cereals. So, a diet combining mungbean and cereal grains forms a balanced amino acid diet. The parameter like genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV), phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV), heritability and genetic advance are useful biometrical tools for estimation of genetic variability. Correlation analysis elucidates the intrinsic nature of observed association between yeild and its attributes. Keeping these points in view, the present study was planned to drive information which is helpful in mungbean improvement programme.
