One day the author was walking by the River Nairn on the frosty misty path leading to Cawdor. Knowing the story of Macbeth from school days, the associations and atmosphere presented by the scene were not lost on him. This led to the idea of combining hobbies and publishing his own book which would include photographs and information related to Macbeth. In the process, the life of the real Macbeth would be uncovered and compared to the one portrayed in the Shakespeare play. While the book is essentially a personal journey it will hopefully be of interest to amateur photographers, travellers, Shakespeare lovers, those with an interest in Early Scottish History......and the simply curious. The author also sincerely hopes that readers will learn enough about the real Macbeth to appreciate that his reputation, and that of his wife, have been done irreparable harm by Shakespeare.
