Emerging statistics continue to report rising rates of infection presenting a new challenge that necessitates the need for interventions that directly try to confront the scourge from the grass roots level (NASCOP-2001). These led to the formation to CBOs specifically dealing with HIV and AIDS issues in Kenya. Most of these groups were formed after the government declared the epidemic a national disaster in 1999. The main aim of this research was to investigate the impact of HIV and AIDS interventions implemented by CBOS in Nyamira division. It sought to find out the membership, educating and training of members and officials as well as the interventions implemented by the CBOs and their impact on the community. Research findings indicated that majority of the CBOs were not genuinely formed to deal with HIV and AIDS issues.the findings further indicated that majority of the officials and members have minimal education and training on HIV and AIDS issues. The impact of the interventions carried out by CBOs on the community was moderate and that CBOs need to improve on their management so as to have a positive impact on the community.
