In order to study the importance of pre-equilibrium mechanism in a nuclear reaction, the nuclear code PRECO-2006 was successfully installed. This code calculates the pre-equilibrium reaction in the frame of Exciton model. For the preparation of error-free input file required for this code, a program was written in FORTRAN-77. The code was run for the input partition p + 54Fe. Incident energy was taken 28.8 MeV because the related input parameters were available. This code calculated the cross-section for the outgoing particles p, n, 2H, 3H, 3He and 4He. In this calculation, secondary emission was not considered. From the analysis of energy spectrum of outgoing particles, pre-equilibrium reaction was found to be important in the case of single nucleon emission. This reaction dominated in the valley between the evaporation peak and direct spectrum. Evaporation peak was observed to be shifted toward higher energy due to pre-equilibrium contribution.
