During the Civil War, St. Landry produced over 1000 young men as soldiers of the Confederate Army. For four long years, all of the able bodied men of St. Landry endured the horrors at the war front. These proud soldiers often had their portraits taken in uniform. A few of these rare pictures survived. They, along with portraits and photos taken of veterans long after the war, make up the core of this book.
