Runes of Mann is a study of the runes used by the Viking settlers on the Isle of Man approximately 1,000 years ago. The first part of the book describes the exact set of runes used by the Manx runemasters, a variant of the set of sixteen runes known as the Younger Futhark. In its second section, the book gives detailed descriptions, illustrations and photographs of many of the runestones that have survived on the Island since the Viking Age. Stones bearing the Celtic ogham characters are also described and pictured. The third section of the book seeks to recreate methods whereby those interested in using the Manx runes for divination or magic may put them into practice today. An important book, both historically and practically.
