XAVIER FISCHER is Professor, Doctor and Engineer in Mechanical Engineering. He has lead more than 30 research projects involving industrial stakes and published more than 80 papers on the topic of Interactive Design. Professor Fischer is the founder and the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Interactive Design and Manufacturing as well as being the founder and the General Chair of the International Network Virtual Concept. ALAIN DAIDIÉ is professor at the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse and a member of the research group ‘Modelling of Mechanical Systems and Microsystems’ at the Clément Ader Institute. His research focuses on the development of sizing models for connections (bolted, riveted ...) within thepreliminary design context. PROFESSOR BENOÎT EYNARD is currently the general manager of the AIP-PRIMECA network - academic group on Factories of the Future: integrated design and advanced manufacturing and member of the French Society of Mechanical Engineering. He is also head of the Institute for Mechatronics at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne. He has published over 50 papers of international journals and been guest editor for 10 journal special issues and academic books. MANUEL PAREDES is a Professor at the National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse and a member of the research group ‘Modelling of Mechanical Systems and Microsystems’ of the Clément Ader Institute. His research work focuses on optimal and robust design and how this has been applied to the design of linear and nonlinear springs, spline couplings, cold-expanded bushings and fasteners.
Covering key topics in the field
such as technological innovation, human-centered sustainable engineering and
manufacturing, and manufacture at a global scale in a virtual world, this book
addresses both advanced techniques and industrial applications of key research
in interactive design and manufacturing. Featuring the full papers presented at
the 2014 Joint Conference on Mechanical Design Engineering and Advanced
Manufacturing, which took place in June 2014 in Toulouse, France, it presents
recent research and industrial success stories related to implementing
interactive design and manufacturing solutions.
