The Internet began as a research project in late sixties and for many years functioned quite well without concern for QoS. Network designers and users generally ignored the QoS facility embedded in the basic Internet Protocol (IP). Within the past few years, however, there has been an explosion of interest in the area, and all major Internet service providers and vendors are providing products that have QoS features. The importance of QoS provision in the current and future Telecommunications Infrastructures and Information Technologies is essential to sustainable economic growth of any nation worldwide. The author presents a framework to analyse and evaluate different strategies for QoS provision in telecommunication systems and IT. The main contribution of the habilitations collection of works is to stress the importance of QoS provision in the current and future Telecommunications Technologies and Internet, while presenting a methodology for assessing the QoS provision within University Campus and Corporate networks in the light of the users perceptions and expectations, while using available resources including people and network hardware-software at minimum cost.
