This book examines the difficulties face by the urban refugees from gender perspective; how urban women refugees are coping with existing conditions and see themselves in urban context. In spite of various challenges and limitations, refugees still try to cope with the prevailing conditions. The aim of this study is to look after the living strategies adopted by 'women refugees' in host urban area. Also, strategies are not blank rather than located in places, so as a concept 'place' is important to study. Where do you live, how do you live, sense of security, community, proximity, anonymity, so and so forth are some features that one should know about the place one is living in. Further, to understand the mix uses of place by refugees the study talks about the conditions of refugees living in camps and outside camps. Refugees outside camps are then segregated into two types of settlements that are 'rural' and 'urban'. My focus is on refugees living off camps in urban settlements. Budhela Village is one of the urban villages of Delhi and is also a study area of my work. Maximum Chin refugees are residing here and fighting for their survivals through different strategies.
