A polymeric ligand can be used to bind selectivity a specific metal ion form a mixture to isolate important metals from sea or waste water, or to remove toxic metal ions from waste water. This is based on different formation constants between the polymeric ligand and various metal ions. A polymeric ligand is usually used in an insoluble resin form to separate a specific metal ion from a solution containing metal ions. The successive stability constants for the complexation of metal ion with multidentate ligand such as polyvinyl derivatives are different from those of typical metal complexes. The aim of the present work includes the admiration of acryloyl chloride with sulphaguanidine and 2,6-diaminopyridine. The formed monomers were reacted with different metal salts by different methods forming polymer complexes. Different spectroscopic and magnetic measurement techniques were used for elucidation of the structures. Thermal stability of the formed polymer complexes was compared with corresponding homopolymers.
