No Boxes is made up of two parts. The first section is an over view of an Australian soldier. Covering his beginnings, his service in Australia and overseas, i.e. one tour spanning a little over two years in Malaya and Borneo, prior to the formation of Malaysia and during Indonesia's attempts to stop that formation. In that period he spent over eighteen months in the "J" i.e. jungle. The two tours he endured in South Vietnam were twelve months apiece. The first tour during the 1967-68 which many veterans describe as the bad years, as it included the infamous "Tet" offensive, was mainly spent as an advisor to the Vietnamese regular and regional forces. A unique period as it was the start of the "first" Australian Mobile Advisory Team, two years before they become part of the Australian Army Training Team. His last three months was with an Australian unit, where he was involved in the Second Battle of Fire Support Base "Coral" and the two battles of FSB "Balmoral." His second tour was with an "Anzac" battalion in 1970-71. The end of the first section deals with his self-rehabilitation, from a much traumatized state using logic and meditation. The second part covers his conclusions; he makes no apologies about his deliberations, as they are mainly based on obvious facts. Please note the term "facts" not truths as he has learnt that man can have no phenomenal experience of such an exalted state. These facts are an indictment that any "sane" person would have to admit to, that they don't, is a verification of the main assertion that the world is controlled madness. Which we refuse to recognize, due to brainwashed conditioning The book was essentially written during the self re-hab period, although that mountain of writings were burnt the guts of it were put together in the creation of No Boxes over a six year period in Thailand where the author currently resides.
