Globalization is both an opportunity and a challenge to higher education. Universities open up branches in foreign countries. New educational partnerships are being established across borders. We see globalization of higher education on the rise everywhere. Is there a perfect model of globalization of higher education? We don't think so Nevertheless, we believe that we can learn a lot from studying excellent contextual globalization practices taking place at universities around the world. This book presents 11 cases of globalization of higher education. The cases are grouped within four perspectives: 1) political perspectives 2) institutional perspectives 3) cultural perspectives 4) personal perspectives. Reading the book, you learn how universities are currently dealing with globalization. Chapters are written by faculty members and administrators at universities, who all share the knowledge and practice of having developed international, transnational, or global offerings in form of educational programs and courses. They describe their challenges, and how they have dealt with those. Considerations and reflections are given at different levels. Micro-level considerations and reflections deal with aspects like the learning of the individual student on the globalized programme. Meso-level considerations and reflections deal with aspects like the positioning of the institutional offering on the market for higher education. Macro-level considerations and reflections deal with aspects like the political climate for globalization of higher education.
