Nanofibers have recently been developed for very wide and advanced applications due to their unique properties. In this concern, many developments were carried out, and were published all over the world. Nanofibers are fibers with diameters in the nanometer range were investigated, where they can be fabricated from different polymersand with different physical properties and application potentials. From which collagen, cellulose, silk fibroin, keratin, gelatin and polysaccharides such as chitosan and alginate. Besides, synthetic polymers include poly (lactic acid), polycaprolactone, polyurethane, poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate), and poly (ethylene-co-vinylacetate). Herein, it is to be noted that polymer chains when connected via covalent bonds, their diameters will depend on the type of polymer used and the method of production. Also, nanofibers are unique for their large surface area-to-volume ratio, high porosity, appreciable mechanical strength, and flexibility in functionalization compa- red to their microfiber counter-parts.
