Bradley Kinkaid has just opened a private investigation firm in Prescott, Arizona. He did two years in Iraq and worked in the criminal investigative division during his three year military stint. To capitalize on the military service he chooses the private eye venue. When an elderly gentleman calls and asks him to look into the death of his wife and son from eight and ten years past, respectively, he is reluctant to take the case because of the bizarre manner in which the man decided to have the matter looked into. You see, both the wife and son were certified to have died of natural causes. He is reluctant to tell Brad the story because it involves nighttime visits from his dead wife. Brad decides to look into the matter just to assuage the misgivings of the man. To his surprise he finds there is truth to the allegation that they were murdered. With the help of an L.A. psychologist and several local hires he finds the reason for the murder, and it was without any malicious intent that they were killed, but to cover up a secret within the company the son worked for. From L.A. to the Far East, then back to Seattle and San Francisco the trail leads. Of course the motive is usually money, especially when the Mob is involved. The supernatural twist to the story gives it a bit of flamboyance not usual in detective stories.
