Although many advances have been made in endodontics in the last decades, canal preparation is still adversely influenced by the highly variable root canal anatomy. This is especially difficult in curved canals, where procedural errors such as apical transportation, elbow formation, ledging, strip perforation, perforation and instrument fracture can occur. The proper preparation of curved root canals is directly related to the capacity of providing uniform dentin removal of intracanal dentin without resulting in undesirable canal aberrations. Various techniques have been used to avoid or minimize these errors though none has been universally accepted as the answer to the maintenance of root canal curvature. No single instrument as well as technique is sufficient for biomechanical preparation of root canal. A correct combination of different available instruments as per the requirement of the case can be the guiding force for complete and efficient biomechanical preparation of a root canal. The objective of this book is to review and discuss the combination of various instruments and techniques used in the management of curved canals.
