An integrated pest management is a sound and well organised pest management strategy which uses combination of all the available methods of pest management so that desired control of the pest is achieved without harming the crop and surrounding ecology. The historical development in IPM reveals the depth of studies done by the researcher and scientists in order to formulate various approach to tackle the pest problem in ecologically and economically sustainable way. The use of strategies like physical, cultural, legal methods helps to avoid disease infection/pest infestation before the infection/infestation cycle begins. On other hand, the use of biological method ensures protection against various pathogens and pests as protective mean or helps in countering the pathogen/pest after incidence happens. With the advance of science and technology in plant science, use of genetical method for development of disease/pest resistant varieties for minimizing the losses caused by pest incidence.
