Two retired women get tired of slow, ho-hum retirement. Though she doesn't know how to break out of it, Bette has resigned herself to living a run-of-the-mill life in their retirement home for the rest of her days: game days, movie nights on Tuesdays, crafting class, blah, blah, blah. Then she gets an idea: she tells her friend Marki, "Let's become detectives." "At our age?" Marki asks. "Not only that, we don't know the first thing about being detectives." Bette says, "We're old enough that no one will pay any attention to us, but we're superior thinkers, and will recognize a clue when we see it." Then, like a bolt of divine providence, they meet a woman at the grocery store who has lost her dog. Bette seizes the opportunity to suddenly proclaim herself and Marki pet detectives extraordinaire. They may as well start small, after all. Little do they know that this small case will lead them on an adventure beyond their wildest dreams that will take them away from retired boredom forever.
