Indian population is predominantly vegetarian and pulses form an integral part of the vegetarian diet as Dal-Roti/Bhat and denote complete and satisfying food. Pulses are grown on 22-23 million ha of area production of 13-15 (Mt.). Lentil out of which lentil was cultivated in 163.77 thousand hectare with production 128.60 thousand tones and productivity 703 kg/ha. Indian Council of Medical Research recommends 65 gm of pulses/day/capita. But the cultivation are not giving more emphasis to this crop and hardly adopt scientific methods of farming leading to wide gap in dissemination of lentil production technology. Keeping this in mind the present investigation was under taken to study the Karpi block.
