Radioactive and non-radioactive elements have been present in our environment since the evolution of the earth. Their concentrations vary from region to region depending on the geological formation and geochemistry of these elements. Therefore human beings since their existence on the earth have been engaged with the exposure of natural ionizing radiations. Hence it is important to study the distribution of radionuclides and other trace elements in environmental matrices. Human exposure to radioactive/non-radioactive elements may occur via different routes via inhalation of air, ingestion of food, drinking water and other matter such as soil exposure. Therefore monitoring of radionuclides and other elements is helpful in making it sure that whether their levels go beyond permissible limits or not. For this purpose various environmental agencies are regularly monitoring the levels of natural radiations. The main objective of the present study is based on the assessment of Uranium and heavy metals in drinking water, radon in indoor air in the environs of Jodhpur, Nagaur, Bikaner and Jhunjhunu districts of Rajasthan are necessary from the health hazard point of view.
