The ancient bird of death. Wildlife photographer Sam Daniels has a dream job: He gets to travel to exotic places and take pictures of breathtakingly beautiful animals for all to see. During a trip to the Amazon jungle for just that purpose, Sam and his tour guide encounter a bird unlike any they have ever seen before, so beautiful and hypnotic. He manages to get a few photos, but not before the strange creature murders his guide and flies off, screaming. Petrified and traumatized, Sam returns to the States to team up with Dr. Katherine Beck, an ornithologist from the University of Seattle, to identify the species. When they figure out it is prehistoric, the pair head back to the Amazon to track it down, but they are followed by a pair of paleontologists who will stop at nothing, not even safety, to gain fame and fortune from the discovery. Now all of them are in the jungle, and they are all vulnerable to a creature that they have no knowledge of. Unfortunately for them, it is watching, and it wants to take their lives as well.
