My main characters are based on real women who loved with all their heart, only to be left heart broken, damaged and bitter. They've been through some real life let downs. But believe me when I tell you they flipped the script, did a role reversal, and took back their lives. Their names are Mya, Kim and Jeno. They are three dissimilar women, but they are what Jeno calls gfriends (genuine) friends. Playing pool was the highlight of Mya's Friday evenings after work. Kim and Jeno, her best friends, would meet her at Lillie's Tavern their "hole in the wall." Mya's drink selection was light beer while Kim and Jeno preferred bourbon. Once the bartender filled their drink orders, they moved on over to the pool room. The ladies carried a sleek black case that housed their personal pool sticks. The Tavern's local pool sharks, always arrived early, so they had first dibs on the most popular table. There was only one way for the ladies to take over the table. They had to sink the eight ball on the break. And you best believe those fierce ladies, "DID THAT " All of a sudden, the DJ turned up the volume. Someone had put in a request for him to play "Cupid Shuffle." For four weeks running it had been the #1 requested song at the club. People jumped up out of their seats, mostly women, had scurried to the dance floor. Quickly the floor filled to capacity. It was time to shuffle. Mya, Jeno, and Kim put away their pool sticks. They sashayed out to the dance floor stepping and strutting. "It don't get no better than this," Mya yelled over the music. Kim twirled around once, then twice, and dipped, and winked at Jeno. The three best friends were just getting started. They spent hours on the dance floor line dancing. But after that night, the simple life as they knew it, changed forever; especially for Mya my main character. A Stroke didn't stop their love for dancing and singing. They hear the same music, but they move to a different beat. Jeno, Mya and Kim sashay a signature move called the "Cane Shuffle." Their canes replaced the leg affected by the stroke. The gfriends called Mya a Workaholic Diva. Kim had finally convinced her to try dating on the internet, where she met Carter aka Real Talk. Her username was aka Reality. Real Talk had an interesting profile but she had no way of knowing if it was his or not. He didn't have a picture on his profile page, but he had been without a doubt, the most fascinating man she's talk to in years. Real Talk was ready to take their relationship to the next level. He was ready to meet Mya. "No Real...help me " She fumbled through the darkness searching for the light switch. Distraught Her eyes stretched open wide. Frantically she turns to look behind her. No one is there. This time she remembered her dream it was another nightmare. It caused her to second guess Real Talk intentions. But he was due to arrive in less than thirty minutes. Nightlife in Summit can be magical if one knows where to go. Mya chose the Hotel Magnolia, a quaint, but unique hotel nestled among the beautiful, aged, granddaddy oaks - with a breathtaking view of the river. Strictly a local flavor of entertainment combine with gulf coast style dining. The house favorite, fresh seafood out of the Gulf of Mexico. And lastly the secret weapon guaranteed to satisfy any sweet craving a slice of butter rum, oven roasted pecan, bread pudding. "You are so beautiful Your picture did you no justice," he stood up moving in closer to her space. Before he realized it he had kissed her sweet lips. He didn't ask nor did he think should he. Overwhelmed by her beauty he was willing to suffer the consequences for his actions. It had been three months since they first spoke. She had waited patiently to see his face, and she was not disappointed. They stood embraced, and no one in the room mattered.
